The Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (MAC), MOMENTA Biennale d’art contemporain, and Place Ville Marie are joining forces to offer a vibrant and unifying Nuit blanche in the heart of downtown Montreal!
From 5 p.m. to 1 a.m., on the PVM gallery level, the public will be able to (re)discover the exhibition Éloges de l’image manquante just before its closing, and take part in creative workshops led by the MAC’s mediation team.
Across the way, at Cathcart, a MOMENTA artistic performance will set the tone, before Ausgang Plaza transforms the space into a dance floor with the collectives Le Maquis and Forward Movements.
Martín Rodríguez presents Nepantlandia, a sound performance situated in a liminal space (nepantla): between body and signal. Drawing on live-captured radio transmissions, interference, and performative gestures, Rodríguez brings forth fragmented soundscapes tied to his Xicanx identity. To be Xicanx, to be Mestizx, is to exist on the margins—to belong neither here nor there, to inhabit a non-place. A definition that finds its full meaning in the in-between: a space shaped by friction, a monstrous result born of interdependence. One can only reclaim a place through process. Sound acts as a medium of transformation: a site where inaudible signals and intertwined histories meet and are retuned.
