Menu Extra welcomes the rising star of Meursault, Marthe Henry, for a wine-paired tasting menu. Marthe Henry will brave the Canadian cold to share her philosophy and passion as part of Montréal en Lumière.
After working in Paris as a journalist, Marthe decided to return to her roots and deepen her knowledge of viticulture. Her grandfather, Pierre Boillot, was a pioneering winemaker in the region. In 2013, she made the pivotal decision to train with Jean-Yves Devevey, Pierre-Henri Rougeot, and Jean-Noël Gagnard. Armed with this experience, she launched her career as a winemaker, cultivating high-quality vineyards in the heart of Burgundy.
In this legendary wine region, taking over a domaine alone is an immense challenge—but doing so as a woman is truly remarkable. Marthe has had to overcome outdated traditions and deep-seated prejudices to establish herself alongside her peers, one bottle at a time. We have immense respect for Marthe, her quiet strength, and her invaluable contribution to the industry.
Marthe Henry’s wines are absolutely exquisite, showcasing precision, sensitivity, and an innate curiosity. Minimal intervention during vinification allows the superb grapes from multiple plots in Saint-Romain, Meursault, Maranges, Rully, and beyond to fully express their potential. A long aging process of at least 18 months in oak barrels ensures that her wines develop depth and beautifully reflect their unique terroirs.
Francis and Alexis will have the honor of crafting an eight-course gastronomic menu paired with Marthe Henry’s exceptional wines on March 6, 7, and 8, 2025. Only a limited number of bottles will make their way to Montréal, so seating will be extremely limited.
