Fans of thrills and filmic oddities, rush to the Cinéma du Parc for an odyssey of the bizarre! The team behind the “Nights of the 4th Dimension” series invites you on a perilous exploration of the vaults of the American Genre Film Archive, the sanctuary of heretical and deviant cinema.
Founded in 2009, AGFA's mission is to preserve works destined for abandonment. Over the years, the organization has restored a plethora of eccentric films, including those by Doris Wishman, Eddie Romero and Jesus Franco. Many of these films have been shown at Cinéma du Parc. Their vast reel collection is packed with nuggets of the bizarre. For the 22nd Nuit blanche, we invite you to discover the hidden treasures of this most unlikely of inventories.
For this unique occasion, two programs of sordid trailers will be shown on the big screen. As its title suggests, THE AGFA HORROR TRAILER SHOW reveals the worst of the horror genre. On the program: nasty goblins, a mondo on witchcraft, stunned slogans and, of course, discount clones of FRIDAY THE 13th. The anthology also features a classic animated feature, the groundbreaking BAMBI MEETS GODZILLA.
This succession of clandestine images continues with THE CULT OF AGFA TRAILER SHOW. A psychosensory amalgam of more or less convincing advertising extracts, this collage is a veritable love letter to an obscure part of the seventh art. Prepare yourself for an avalanche of zany oddities, including Jerry Lewis at his most shameful, a documentary on cryptozoology, an anti-drug pamphlet starring Clint Eastwood and a dash of kung fu. All accompanied by tasty commercials produced in the 90s. Your nostalgia will be in overdrive!
While you're wandering around at night, stop by the Cinéma du Parc and dive headfirst into the 4th dimension!
