Chuck Hughes honors us with a visit to the Village Gourmand to cook one of his favorite recipes from his book La Cuisine Maison, for the delight of our taste buds.

Chuck is the co-owner and executive chef of one of Montreal's most renowned restaurants, *Le Garde Manger*. In front of the camera, his showmanship combined with his passion for cooking has propelled hit shows such as *Chuck’s Day Off*, *Chuck’s Week Off*, *Chuck’s Eat The Street*, and *Chuck and the First Peoples’ Kitchen*. After completing his culinary training, Chuck distinguished himself in prestigious establishments before partnering with two longtime friends to open *Le Garde Manger* in 2006. From its inception, the restaurant garnered critical acclaim and quickly became fully booked.
Among the highlights of Chuck’s career is his achievement as the youngest Canadian chef to win the *Iron Chef America* competition. In 2010, Chuck assembled a catering team for the first time to manage VIP cuisine at the Osheaga music festival. He was also one of nine celebrity chefs competing on *The Next Iron Chef: Super Chefs* on the Food Network. Additionally, he served as a judge on the prestigious panel of *Chopped Canada* and hosted *À Couteaux Tirés*, *La Relève*, and *Le Monde Selon Chuck*. Chuck has published two bestselling cookbooks with Éditions La Presse, *Garde Manger* and *Chuck’s Day Off*.
In 2015, Chuck launched his own food product line, *Mes Essentiels de Cuisine*. The range features carefully crafted exceptional products such as olive oil, vinegars, maple syrup, and antipastos. Chuck collaborates with local producers he has built long-term relationships with through his restaurants. These products are available in numerous retailers across Canada and online at chuckhughes.ca.
Chuck also introduced a line of cookware, available exclusively at La Baie. He is set to begin production on the sixth season of *Chuck and the First Peoples’ Kitchen* on APTN and recently published *Cuisine Maison*, his third cookbook with Les Éditions de l’Homme.
