Nuit blanche à Montréal will serve as the setting for the closing of the exhibition and the series of activations by the multimedia collective BANAL (CA–MX), composed of Annabelle Brault, José Cortés, Veronica Mockler, Léah Snider, and Vivek Venkatesh, in collaboration with Mexican artists Cristian Franco, Mónica Leyva, and Diego Orendain.
The event will feature live music, scenographic design, video projections, and an interactive performance throughout the night, all taking place in the same exhibition space where selected works presented at the January 22 opening will be activated.
Both the exhibition and the live project are part of the collective’s most recent ethnographic work on relations between Mexico and Canada. This project is embedded in BANAL’s research on post-truth and the transfiguration of public opinion surrounding power, diplomacy, and its instrumentalization, as part of their long-term research project entitled Obscure Diplomacy.
The immersive artistic environment will include a living archive of forms completed by the public, an interactive multimedia space, and an instrumentalized stage where live music will be performed, with the aim of activating and creating new connections between Montreal audiences and their Mexican counterparts.
The activity will take place at the Mexican Cultural Institute in Montreal / ESPACIO MÉXICO.
